But even if you’re sticking to plain, old sparkling water, the DrinkMate does a quick and easy job of carbonating, using a similar button mechanism to that of the SodaStream. The biggest advantage this soda maker has over its competitors is that you can use it with any cold, pulp-free beverage, even alcoholic ones. If you are looking for a more budget-friendly soda maker, I would recommend the DrinkMate, which is just $99 on Amazon. So even though it is more than twice as expensive as the basic SodaStream, I’d say the Swedish-designed Aarke is worth the splurge, since it’s easier to use and looks nicer than the average, plastic soda machine. I can’t speak to the longevity of the Aarke - or any of these soda makers, really - since I only tested them for a week, but the stainless-steel body of the Aarke feels sturdy, like it belongs in a working kitchen and could stand the test of time. ![]() (Though if you do want those tickle-your-nose bubbles, you can play with the lever a bit, to adjust to your taste.) Plus, the carbonation lasts in the bottle, even overnight, unlike San Pellegrino. It’s not as aggressively fizzy as Gerolsteiner or Hal’s, but the bubbles are strong, fine, and even, almost like Perrier. Unscrew the bottle, and just like that you’ve got a full bottle of seltzer.Īnd the seltzer you get from the Aarke is satisfying. After you screw a full bottle of cold water into the stand, you simply pull that lever down until you hear a hiss, indicating that the carbonation process is complete. I found the Aarke’s lever much easier to manipulate and control than the wobbly plastic button on top of the SodaStream Fizzi, which I had to press repeatedly and intently to get a fraction of the fizz of that I got with one lever pull on the Aarke. But that lever is just as practical and easy to use as it is eye-catching. One co-worker likened it to something you’d spot at an old-fashioned soda counter. The lever mechanism you pull down to carbonate the bottle of water also adds to the vintage look and feel of the Aarke. Part of that is because it’s made of stainless steel, and Aarke’s variety of metallic and matte finishes - including copper, silver, white, and matte black - feel more grown-up and elegant than the glossy plastic cases of the SodaStream or the Drinkmate, the other two brands I tested out. It’s far and away the most attractive of the five soda makers I tested, the one I’d be most excited to place on my own counter and show off. That’s why, for my money, the best sparkling water machine is the Aarke Carbonator II. I’m also a kitchen-appliance aficionado with limited free counter space for new gadgets, so if I am going to make space for a soda machine, I want it to look nice. But I’m a seltzer snob, and I wanted to find out if soda makers from SodaStream actually make the best-tasting and bubbliest sparkling water, or if the brand just has the most name recognition. The obvious choice would be to get something from SodaStream, the soda machine company that was bought by Pepsi for $3.2 billion in 2018 and continues to dominate the market. I’ve long coveted a soda machine for my home, because I love drinking sparkling water and hate schlepping 12-packs of seltzer home from Key Foods. ![]() ![]() ![]() First phase in both Gundyr fights is extremely easy to parry. I found that one of the easiest enemies to parry (and you might think I'm crazy) is Gundyr. Now, you might be wondering how to git gud at parrying before jumping into PvP and getting your ass whooped for trying to parry every move your opponent makes. So, NEVER swing three times with any of these weapon classes against someone if they have a parry tool out. ![]() Straight swords, spears, and I believe curved swords can be setup parried on the third r1. Like reaction parries, these can only be done on certain weapons. As far as I know, you can only setup parry r1 spams. These work best on straight sword r1 spammers as it is a bulletproof method to punish their spam. Setup parrying is eating a couple hits, and throwing out a parry as soon as you are no longer stunlocked to catch their next r1 attack. However, almost no one uses great lance because it is trash so some other weapons that you can reaction parry are one-handed ultra greatswords, one-handed great hammers, and one handed greataxes.įinally, set-up parries are probably the easiest to land, as long as you aren't playing against a very skilled player. The easiest weapon that I have found to reaction parry is great lance. This type of parrying can only be done on certain weapons that have a long enough wind-up to be able to react in time. Reaction parrying is seeing your opponent start to swing, and throwing out a parry in time to land it on them. Reaction parries are arguably the hardest parries to land, depending on the weapon you are fighting. always throw out an r1 after rolling toward you). These parries should be attempted when you can read your opponent and they play very regularly (i.e. These are most common in "parry spammers" who stand there and parry in your face as you fight them. Prediction parries are exactly how it sounds, predicting when your opponent will attack and throwing out a parry in advance. Now to start, I will break parrying into three types: prediction, reaction, and setup parries. Parries are a punish tool for opponents that spam, are easy to read, or are using easily parried weapons. Do not become a parry-happy spammer and rely on parries to do all of your damage because this will get you killed very quickly. If this guide helps even one person get better at parrying, I will be happy.įirst of all, PARRYING IS NOT A WEAPON. All of the other parry guides that I have seen on here have been videos or were overly complicated. With all of the new players, I have been seeing a lot of posts about questions on how to learn parrying and I figured I could make this guide to help make it easier for the newer players. ![]() ![]() ![]() You know you want to try it… Download it here!įeature image is an image of the HBKsaar “link” lecture series Designed by Indra Kupferschmid. It also denied that it used an autodialer system, comparing its system more to a smartphone. Facebook argued the messages were sent in error, but also argued that the messages were protected under the First Amendment. But the trade group has no ability to enforce these guidelines, which are more like mutually agreed upon practices than firm laws.Īn upcoming Supreme Court case involving Facebook may offer some guidance on the legal definition of phone spam.įacebook seems to be everywhere lately, right? In 2015, Noah Duguid sued Facebook, complaining about getting unwanted text messages from the company (he didn't have an account), which he claimed violated the TCPA. The CTIA's statement about requiring opt-out language and prior consent are part of recommended guidelines to the industry for players like the carriers and senders like political campaigns. But there isn't any guidance on these systems because they're run by humans. The TCPA and FCC have rules about abuse on autodialer systems that can automatically send messages or make phone calls. But that's largely because the legal guidelines around these kinds of P2P text messages aren't clear. "These simple steps help protect consumers from spam, and maintain text messaging as a trusted medium for everyone." But didn't the Trump campaign say it was in compliance with the TCPA and FCC guidelines? ![]() "We expect all senders - whether airlines, schools, banks or campaigns - to include clear opt-out language and gain prior consent before sending a text," said a spokesman for the organization. While the carriers haven't spoken about the incident, the CTIA, the trade group that represents the US wireless industry, made clear that recipients must be able to unsubscribe from unsolicited texts. But the potential issue may have been that the messages didn't include clear opt-out language, and the senders may not have gained consent ahead of time. The volume of messages likely tripped up the system. It turns out, you're more likely to respond to a text message than you are a phone call or email, which often are littered with spam or robocalls. You've likely seen an increase in volume of text messages from local campaigns during an election or primary. Bernie Sanders was the first to effectively employ this system with Hustle, which employed people to send personal text messages to prospective voters. And this is popular with political campaigns? If, for instance, you send more than 1,000 messages in a day, those messages will likely get blocked.Ĭompanies will work with the carriers ahead of time to get prior approval to send these mass messages. Since P2P messages are normally supposed to be more limited exchanges between individuals, systems may flag accounts that send too many messages. That's different from what's known as application-to-peer, or A2P, messages, which are more formal blast text messages. They're exactly like the text messages that you or I send to our friends and family, and are categorized as peer-to-peer, or P2P messages. Political campaigns tap companies such as Hustle or RumbleUp that employ hundreds of people who each send thousands of text messages to potential voters. |
